What is a SyncUP and the Weekly Guide?

To put is simply, a “SyncUP” is spending quality time with God for the purpose of knowing Him better in order to align your life (mind, will, and emotions) to His design.  The sync goes only in one direction…UP!
The Weekly SyncUP Guide publishes every Monday and is provided as a FREE resource to SyncUP email subscribers only. Click here to Invite a Friend to Join SyncUP.

This guide provides five (5) daily outlines on scripture reading, reflection questions, life application steps, and prayers to help you have your own daily SyncUPs with God for the rest of the week.

This is not a prescription but a rather a resource to help facilitate rich, fulfilling, genuine, and life changing time with God.

DON’T FREAK OUT…if doing all 5 this week is overwhelming, set a goal of 2 or 3 and work your way up from there.
God Bless!

Day 1

Day 1 – Rooted in Christ

Reading

Read Jeremiah 17:7-8

Reflection

This passage is an analogy about being rooted in Christ. With this in mind answer the following:

Who does the tree represent? Who does the stream/water represent?

What are the benefits of the tree roots being close to water? How does this relate to the benefits of having our lives rooted in Christ?

What’s the connection between trusting in Christ and being rooted in Christ?

The Word in Action

Today, take time to “send out your roots” to the living water of Christ. (John 7:37-38)

Prayer

Gracious God, help me to take root in You. Let me feed and thrive on the nutrients and refreshment of the Living Water that is Christ. And let me produce good fruit for your glory, no matter the weather in my life.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 2

Day 2 – Built Up in Christ

Reading

Read Matthew 7:24-27

Reflection

In the analogy in Matthew 7:24-27, who does the rock represent? Who or what does the sand represent?

How is the man who built on rock characterized? And the one who built on sand?

What do the weather conditions described in verse 25 and 27 represent in our life today?

Think about a time when you built your life on sand (anything but Christ). What happened and how does it align with the warning in verse 27?

The Word in Action

Today, spend some time in prayer and examining what you have built your life on. Ask God to tell you specifically how you need to fortify your foundation.

Prayer

My Rock and my Refuge, teach me how to practice wisdom and build my life on the only thing that can last, You. Keep me from the temptation of taking short cuts and building on the sand of human teaching and my own frail logic.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Day 3

Day 3 – Established in Faith in Christ

Reading

Read Colossians 1:23, 1 Corinthians 15:58, and 2 Corinthians 1:21-22

Reflection

What are the synonyms for “established” used in Colossians 1:23 and 1 Cor. 15:58?

Do these words describe your faith as it is today? If not, why not? Submit it to God in prayer.

According to 2 Cor. 1:21, how are we established in Christ? Why is this important to know?

The Word in Action

Today, list 3 beliefs or teachings you’ve encountered that have tempted you to “shift from the hope of the Gospel”. Find 1 scripture to refute each one of them.

Prayer

My Lord and my God, please establish me in my faith in Christ. Show me how to be steadfast and stable in Truth. Strengthen me to resist temptation to shift to any teaching not fully aligned to the Gospel, no matter how appealing or alluring it may seem.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Day 4

Day 4 – Taught in Christ

Reading

Read Romans 10:17, Philippians 4:9, Matthew 28:19-20 and Mark 4:1-20

Reflection

What comes from hearing the teachings of Christ through His word? (Romans 10:17)

What must follow hearing the teachings of Christ and what is one of the results? (Philippians 4:9)

What are we supposed to do with what we are taught? (Matthew 28:20)

The Word in Action

Today, read Mark 4:1-20 throughout the day. Take an honest look at your life and identify which type of “soil” are you being most of the time for the seed of God’s word. Share with a trustworthy believer and ask for prayer.

Prayer

Dear Lord, teach me You through Your word. Help me to not just hear your teaching but to live it by putting it into action. Eliminate the distractions and my own sin and shortcomings that prevent my life from bearing the fruit of Your word.

In Jesus Name, Amen

Day 5

Day 5 – Thanksgiving in Christ

Reading

Read Hebrews 13:15, Psalm 103:2-5 and 1 Timothy 6:6-10

Reflection

What makes praise to God a “sacrifice”? What are we sacrificing? (Heb. 13:15)

In Psalm 103, we are told to praise God for all His benefits. What are some examples of these benefits as listed in verses 3-5?

Why is being thankful and content so important for being stable in faith in Christ? (1 Tim. 6:6-10)

The Word in Action

Today, consider how the benefits of faith in Christ outweigh the costs. Meditate on how you’ve been personally impacted by the benefits listed in Psalm 103:3-5.

Prayer

Dear Father, You are worthy of great praise. Give me a heart that willingly sacrifices times and energy to give You the praise that is due. Let an attitude of gratefulness toward You lead me in to godly contentment and safeguard me from losing my way on this journey of faith.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
