What is a SyncUP and the Weekly Guide?

To put is simply, a “SyncUP” is spending quality time with God for the purpose of knowing Him better in order to align your life (mind, will, and emotions) to His design.  The sync goes only in one direction…UP!
The Weekly SyncUP Guide publishes every Monday and is provided as a FREE resource to SyncUP email subscribers only. Click here to Invite a Friend to Join SyncUP.

This guide provides five (5) daily outlines on scripture reading, reflection questions, life application steps, and prayers to help you have your own daily SyncUPs with God for the rest of the week.

This is not a prescription but a rather a resource to help facilitate rich, fulfilling, genuine, and life changing time with God.

DON’T FREAK OUT…if doing all 5 this week is overwhelming, set a goal of 2 or 3 and work your way up from there.
God Bless!

Day 1

Day 1 – Put to Death

Reading

Key Verse: Colossians 3:5-7 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Mark 7:21-22 (ESV)

Reflection

What needs to be put to death and where does this death occur?

What’s coming if these things are not put to death?

Looking at your life, are you still walking in things that need to be put to death? Confess it to God and ask for deliverance.

The Word in Action

Today, put to death anything in your heart that has no place in your life with Christ.

Prayer

Gracious Father, give me the courage to put to death all things that are not of You. I know the source of my wickedness is in me but the source of my righteousness is me in Christ. Thank you for providing a way out of the coming wrath.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 2

Day 2 – Put Away

Reading

Key Verse: Colossians 3:8 (ESV)

Cross Reference: James 1:21 (ESV)

Reflection

What does putting away ungodly things make room for? (Hint: James 1:21)

What does the implanted word do for us?

In what way are we to receive the word? Is this your current attitude toward the word?

The Word in Action

Today, make room for God’s word in Your mind, heart, and life.

Prayer

My Lord, Your word is life. Your word is You. Only You can save my soul. Rid me of anything that takes up space in my life that is not according to Your Word. Help me to have a teachable heart, ready to receive the truth of Your word, even when it hurts my feelings.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 3

Day 3 – Put Off Old Self

Reading

Key Verse: Colossians 3:9

Cross Reference: Romans 6:6

Reflection

What’s included with “putting off” the old self? Thoughts? Attitudes? Behaviors? All of the above? Why is it tempting to focus more on one area?

What happens to the old self when you become a believer?

What are the results?

The Word in Action

Today, be reminded of the death of your old self and embrace the freedom from sin you have because of it.

Prayer

My Lord and my God, thank you for taking my old self to the cross and the grave with you. Teach me how to embrace the reality that I am no longer enslaved to my flesh and passions. I have been set free. Help me to live in that freedom.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 4

Day 4 – Put On New Self

Reading

Key Verse: Colossians 3:10

Cross Reference: 1 Corinthians 15:53-55

Reflection

What is the only way the perishable (us mortals) can put on the imperishable (immortality)?

How does this result in death being “swallowed up in victory”?

If your soul and spirit could be photographed, who would it look like, the Creator or some creation?

The Word in Action

Today, read and meditate on Genesis 5:1-2

Prayer

My Creator, I am the work of Your hands. You made me in Your own image. I am humbled to have such an amazing design. Sin distorted my ability to reflect You. But sin and death have been defeated by Christ. In Him I have new life and a redeemed image!

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 5

Day 5 – Christ is All in All

Reading

Key Verse: Colossians 3:11

Cross Reference: Galatians 2:20

Reflection

Who do we live our life for? How is this counter cultural?

What motivates us to live our life in this counter cultural way?

What social identities do you sometimes allow to overshadow your identity in Christ?

The Word in Action

Today, walk in confidence that your identity is in Christ and not the labels of man.

Prayer

My God, You alone are my life. My desire is that this will not just be a nice Christian phrase but my personal reality. Help me to not get caught up in the labels and categories people create for themselves and others. What matters is Christ and who I get to be in Him.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
