September 19th – September 23rd

Get Started

What is a SyncUP and the Weekly Guide?

To put is simply, a “SyncUP” is spending quality time with God for the purpose of knowing Him better in order to align your life (mind, will, and emotions) to His design.  The sync goes only in one direction…UP!
The Weekly SyncUP Guide publishes every Monday and is provided as a FREE resource to SyncUP email subscribers only. Click here to Invite a Friend to Join SyncUP.

This guide provides five (5) daily outlines on scripture reading, reflection questions, life application steps, and prayers to help you have your own daily SyncUPs with God for the rest of the week.

This is not a prescription but a rather a resource to help facilitate rich, fulfilling, genuine, and life changing time with God.

DON’T FREAK OUT…if doing all 5 this week is overwhelming, set a goal of 2 or 3 and work your way up from there.
God Bless!

Day 1

Day 1 – Doubting Thomas

Reading

Key Verse: John 14:5 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Luke 24:25 (ESV)

Reflection

What preceded Thomas’ question in John 14:5?

How long had Thomas been walking with Jesus at this point?

What makes us, as humans, “slow of heart to believe” the words of God?

The Word in Action

Today, lay all of your doubts before God and leave them there.

Prayer

Gracious Father, forgive me for my slowness to believe You. We live in a suspicious age where “trust no one” seems like the best way to live. I know this is no excuse for casting suspicion on You but it’s the truth; it’s where my heart and head is sometimes. Bring me to a place where my suspicions about You dissolve. Deliver me from doubts and let me courageously trust that You are who say You are.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 2

Day 2 – The Way, The Truth, The Life

Reading

Key Verse: John 14:6 (ESV)

Cross Reference: 1 John 5:11-12 (ESV)

Reflection

What exclusive claim does Jesus make about Himself in John 14:6? What “way” does He say He provides that no one else can? The way to what?

If Jesus says He is the truth, how can it be proven? What type of evidence is needed to know if something is true? (Hint: Think about the court system)

Many people have and do live without believing in Christ. So what did Jesus mean when He said He is “the life”?

The Word in Action

Today, meditate on Jesus’ own words about who He says He is and what it means for your life. (John 14:6)

Prayer

My Lord, thank you for being upfront and direct about who You are. There’s no guessing games with You! Now help me to know You for who You are. Let me diligent in reviewing the eye-witness testimony contained in Your Word to strengthen my conviction to trust in the truth of Your name.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 3

Day 3 – Show and Know

Reading

Key Verse: John 14:7-11 (ESV)

Cross Reference: John 10:36-39 (ESV)

Reflection

What prompted Philip to ask Jesus to “show” them the Father? Why do we as humans desire signs?

Name a few ways Jesus had “shown” them the Father prior to Philip’s request?

Why is showing people the truth not always enough for people to know the truth?

The Word in Action

Today, consider how great it is to know Jesus. Then think about how even greater it is to be known by Him.

Prayer

My Lord and my God, you know me…all of me. And yet, You still desire me, still want good things me, still love me. Help me to know You better. Not the “made-up” version of You in movies or the watered down version of You in musicals, or even the distorted version of You in my own head. No, help me see and know the real You, on Your terms.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 4

Day 4 – The Rejected Cornerstone

Reading

Key Verse: Acts 4:11 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Ephesians 2:20-22 (ESV)

Reflection

What is Jesus’ role as a cornerstone?

Who assigned Him this role?

What would happen if an engineer rejected or tried to build without the cornerstone? How have you seen this play out in your life when You rejected Jesus?

The Word in Action

Today, walk in confidence and gratitude that your life is on a secure foundation with Christ as the cornerstone.

Prayer

My Rock, thank You for being so steady and secure in my life. Thank you for being the Root by which I receive nourishment and the ability to grow up in my faith. Thank you for being the Builder who is forming me into a holy dwelling place for God. I praise You for the great work You are doing in me and for me.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 5

Day 5 – Salvation in No One Else

Reading

Key Verse: Acts 4:12 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Hebrews 2:1-4 (ESV)

Reflection

What does the word of God say about the source of salvation?

What other “names under heaven” have you been tempted to put saving faith in?

Summarize all the ways God has communicated the source of salvation to humanity? (Hint: Hebrews 2:2-4)

The Word in Action

Today, reflect on what was preached to you when you first heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Prayer

My God, You have gone to great lengths to communicate the road to salvation, the road to You. Help me not to neglect your message. Give me ears to hear it when You speak and eyes to see it when You act. And give me the gracious, loving words to deliver Your message to others.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
