October 10th – October 14th

Get Started

What is a SyncUP and the Weekly Guide?

To put is simply, a “SyncUP” is spending quality time with God for the purpose of knowing Him better in order to align your life (mind, will, and emotions) to His design.  The sync goes only in one direction…UP!
The Weekly SyncUP Guide publishes every Monday and is provided as a FREE resource to SyncUP email subscribers only. Click here to Invite a Friend to Join SyncUP.

This guide provides five (5) daily outlines on scripture reading, reflection questions, life application steps, and prayers to help you have your own daily SyncUPs with God for the rest of the week.

This is not a prescription but a rather a resource to help facilitate rich, fulfilling, genuine, and life changing time with God.

DON’T FREAK OUT…if doing all 5 this week is overwhelming, set a goal of 2 or 3 and work your way up from there.
God Bless!

Day 1

Day 1 – Addition

Reading

Key Verse: Galatians 1:6-9 (ESV)

Cross Reference: 2 Peter 2:1-3 (ESV)

Reflection

What does it mean to distort the Gospel of Christ? (Ref: Blue Letter Bible)

According the scriptures above, what is the fate of those who try to add distorted interpretation to the Word of God?

What’s a real-life example of a false Christian group adding their own interpretation to the Word of God? What scripture would you use to defend the truth?

The Word in Action

Today, commit to receiving God’s Word as it is, on God’s terms and not man’s.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You providing Your Word. It stands strong against those who try to add perversion and distortion to it. Teach me to stand strong on Your word. Give me discernment and courage to refute anyone who attempts to add their own revelations to Your solemn one; the revelation of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 2

Day 2 – Subtraction

Reading

Key Verse: 2 Corinthians 11:4 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Acts 4:12 (ESV)

Reflection

What problem was happening in Corinth regarding Jesus?

Why is it so important that Christians believe and understand that Jesus was both man and God? (Here’s an article to reference)

What’s a real-life example of a false Christian group subtracting from the full nature of Jesus Christ? What scripture would you use to defend the truth?

The Word in Action

Today, reflect on the complete nature of Jesus Christ and how it completes your faith.

Prayer

My Lord, I am thankful for who You are. Thank you for being a man that bled real blood and faced real temptation so that I would not have to die in my sin. Thank you for being a God that defeated sin and death so that I would have a clear path to eternal life. I praise You for all You are.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 3

Day 3 – Multiplication

Reading

Key Verse: Acts 15:1 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Romans 4:9-12 (ESV)

Reflection

What false doctrine were the men of Judea teaching?

How does the account of Abraham teach us the folly in trying to multiply the requirements for righteousness?

What’s a real-life example of a false Christian group multiplying the requirements for righteousness? What scripture would you use to defend the truth?

The Word in Action

Today, find rest in the fact that your faith in Christ is what makes you righteous.

Prayer

Gracious Father, thank you for not requiring me to achieve and keep my own righteousness. It’s sometimes tempting to reduce my faith to a matrix of rules and behaviors. I confess that sometimes that seems easier than placing complete faith in You. Help me to abandon being anxious to earn my own pretense of righteousness and cling to being grateful for the righteousness of Christ I have freely received.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 4

Day 4 – Division

Reading

Key Verse: Galatians 2:11-13 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Isaiah 65:5 (ESV)

Reflection

What motivated the Jews to believe they were right not to eat with the Gentiles?

How does God feel about people with such attitudes?

What’s a real-life example of a false Christian group that create a divide between themselves and others by asserting they are the only church God really loves? What scripture would you use to refute it?

The Word in Action

Today, remember that grace is received at the footstool of humility and not the pedestal of religious elitism.

Prayer

My Lord, let me remember my place before you. Help me resist any temptation to place my own or my church’s preferences and practices on par with righteousness itself. Remove from me any pride that would lead me to make my personal convictions into mandates for salvation for others. Teach me to walk humbly before you and others.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day 5

Day 5 – Safeguarding Through Studying

Reading

Key Verse: 2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV)

Cross Reference: Hebrews 5:11-14 (ESV)

Reflection

Why is rightly handling the truth so important and how does it relate to the topic of cults?

What does being “mature” in God’s word enable a person to do?

What are you doing to mature your study of God’s word?

The Word in Action

Today, ask God for an insatiable appetite for His Word.

Prayer

Father, give me a desire for Your Word. Forgive me for when I allow tiredness, misplaced priorities, laziness, and distractions to get in the way of studying the truths of faith in Jesus Christ. Place an urgency in me to be ready to defend the faith against those that try to distort, oppress, and manipulate by falsely using Your word.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
